The program is a Swedish version of the short-run British show If I Ruled the World, which itself was as spin-off from Have I Got News For You – both produced by Hat Trick Productions. The comedians are divided into two teams, red and blue, representing traditional political colours. At the end of the show, the audience vote for the winners based on which team was funniest.
Macken is a Swedish 6-part musical sit-com that ran on SVT in 1986. It was produced by Galenskaparna och After Shave and was a major breakthrough for the group. Some of the songs from the show became hits on Svensktoppen and a movie was made in 1990.
The title translates as “the mack” with “mack” in this case being common Swedish slang for gas station.
Pippi Longstocking is a TV series based on Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking children’s books. The show ran for thirteen episodes, the first episode being broadcast 8 February 1969 on the then Swedish public service channel Sveriges Radio.
The series’ theme song, “Here Comes Pippi Longstocking” was composed by Jan Johansson, with lyrics by Astrid Lindgren. The song was sung by series star Inger Nilsson.
